A Chicago Connection
Chicago has deep roots in my family. My cousin Anita's husband, Robert Fuller, spent years as the Choir Director at Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois, shaping young voices just outside the city. Faith was a cornerstone of the Fuller family, and those Chicago ties run right through to Arkansas, where his daughter Karen now brings the morning news to viewers across the state.
Television and the choices it demands are at the heart of my new novel, which explores the tension between standing firm in Christian values and the seductive pull of Hollywood fame. Having grown up in a home where those values were lived daily, Karen knows firsthand the unique pressures of life on camera and the importance of staying grounded.
Her mother Anita sees that connection clearly:
"John - you certainly have a thorough understanding of the television business. I wish you continued success in your writing."
— Anita Fuller
